One of my favorite parts of spring is the the vast number of little things. Baby things--animals, leaves, buds, plants.
Most things start out small and grow, and spring is a celebration of the little life surrounding us. That's why spring is the season of hope--there is great potential for growth in small, understated things.
Jesus was a noticer of little things too. Matthew 10:29 says,"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father" (ESV). He sees even this "worthless" half-penny bird that most of us regard as a nuisance.
But the little things don't stop there. Jesus notices the small kindnesses that we deem insignificant. "And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward” (Matt. 10:42, ESV).
What "insignificant" things are happening in your life right now that God wants to grow? Have you been noticing the small in your life?
God's greatest gift to mankind--Jesus--started out small, no more than a baby.
Spring is a testament to the way God works. Let's make it a big celebration of the little things.
