Spring Cleaning is on.
I remember the hum of the vacuum, the whirring of the washing machine spinning load after load of curtains, pillowcases, tablecloths, and bed sheets. I remember the lemony tang of cleaner in the water that dripped warm down my arms. I remember cleaning bugs from light fixtures and sweeping forgotten corners.
National Spring Cleaning Week is here. With the advent of the digital age, this week takes on several meanings. Digital files are deleted and storage freed up. Online accounts that are rarely used are finally deleted. Email solicitations are unsubscribed.
But the traditional meaning still applies--maybe more so now with the global epidemic. Cleaning out your house is a great way both to get yourself in the mood for spring's arrival and to fight off disease. Opening the windows to let in the chilly fresh air might be just the remedy for the last of these winter blues.
Spring is coming. Really.
